A Yielded Vessel

2 Timothy 2: 20 – 22 (KJV)
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
22 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

These are some of Paul words to Timothy, His son in the faith. This piece focuses on the consecration of the believer. We were not saved to live on our terms, our life is no longer our own, it belongs to Christ.

We were saved for the master’s use. We are a vessel for Him in this crooked and persevered world. We are in the world, but not of the world. We are in the world to carry out the will of God and reconcile men to God. We were prepared by God for good works.

God can not use anything apart from Him. Hence, we must be a yielded vessel. Through the ministry of the Word and prayer, we are sanctified and prepared for the assignment God has prepared for us to fulfil.

We have been made the righteousness of God in Christ, God has granted us the position of right standing with Him. This position we have, is designed to inspire a life of honour, and a life that glorifies God through our surrender and obedience. It is the inner life that affects the outer life.

In Salvation, we received the Life of Christ, In Consecration, we give our lives to Christ.

This life that we live is not our own, it has become a yielded vessel in the hand of God. We don’t live to please men or ourselves; we live to please Him only. We are made for his pleasure, created to bring him glory. We have becomes vessels in his hand.

Therefore, as yielded vessels, we purge ourselves from anything that is not God’s. We yield ourselves to righteousness and right living. We produce the fruits of righteousness, we mirror Jesus in all fullness and power, we are devoted to our conviction of the Gospel. In season and out of season, we bear out cross daily to follow Jesus. That’s who a yielded vessel is.

A yielded Life is a life of full obedience (half obedience is disobedience). A yielded life is a life of pleasing the Lord. A yielded life is a life of self denial and sacrifice. A yielded life is a life of consistency’ consistency in the Word and prayer.

Romans 6: 13 (KJV)
Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Just as we yielded ourselves to sin and ungodly stuffs while we were without God, so also, through the ability of God’s righteousness in us; we can yield ourselves to God and for His use.

This is what Paul meant when He says “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour”. We purge ourselves from any dishonourable thing and we accomplish good works to the glory of God.

Remember, He called us “a royal priesthood, a holy nation and peculiar people”. He didn’t call us all of that for nothing. The reason is, so can show forth the praises of Him ( the excellencies) who has called us out of darkness into his marvelous light.

DECLARATION
Dear Father, thank you for making me your vessel of honour, I yield myself and I respond as the vessel of honour that you designed me to be. I am sanctified by the Holy Ghost as you prepare me for your glorious use in Jesus name, Amen!
