The Call To Membership
The Local church is God’s plan, it is God’s plan. Jesus died to give himself for the church! The Church is His bride. The reason for the death, burial and resurrection is the local church. You can not be in Christ and not be identified to a local church.
You can not love Jesus and hate the local church! You can not love the groom and hate the bride! You can not be committed to Jesus and abandon His church. The church is God’s representative on the earth!
When Jesus confronts Saul on the road to Damascus in Acts 9, he asks him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” And Saul said, “Who are you, Lord?” And Jesus replied, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.”
Jesus identifies himself so closely with the local church that he considers himself persecuted when the local church is persecuted.
What about you—do you identify yourself with the local church?
Every believer has an identity in the local church!
Church membership is a calling. It is not a matter of negotiation. It is not doing the Pastor a favour. It is a calling. Me being a part of a local church is a calling.
God’s Design For Every Believer In Christ Jesus
- Every believer is called to a particular local church
- Every believer must be planted in a local church
- Every believer must be committed to a local church
- Every believer must be loyal to a particular local church
- Every believer should be nurtured by a Pastor in a local church
Every member has a destiny in God’s kingdom, and God assigns a Pastor to help those members fulfil their destinies, purposes and plans.
If you have not identified to any local church or you are not yet committed to one, make up your mind to be steadfast and be dedicated to a local church.
Ask the Holy Spirit to direct you to the exact place He has called you to fulfil your assignment. The Lord will guide to the church in your community to be a part of.
Any if you don’t have any in your locality, you can start and plant one. Church is the people, not the building. Church is where two or three are gathered.
Church is not limited to the confines of a sanctuary or chapel, it can have one in your house; you commence a weekly or monthly gathering of saints and before you know it, the Lord will add to it.
DECLARATION
I am a member of the body of Christ, I am devoted and committed to the body. I also have a healthy expression of my identity in the local church, Amen
