Forgiven: Yesterday, Today And Forever
The New Creation is saved by grace, through faith and not of any man’s good works or performance; it is the gift of God. The work of salvation is completely the act of God, all man needed to do was to trust in what Jesus did and then he receives it all.
This grace, which is an unmerited, undeserved, unqualified and unearned favour, is a divine act that translates us from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His light; from sin to righteousness.
The New Creation did not get saved by his own accord or power. The believer was purchased, blood purchased!
1 Corinthians 6: 20 (KJV)
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
The New Creation got saved because Jesus paid the price on his behalf – in the price that he paid, we have the gift of eternal life, redemption, adoption, imputation, right standing, sanctification, the forgiveness of sins and a whole lot more.
The New Creation life begins the moment he comes into Christ, he is a brand new man and has never existed before; there are no traces of his past.
Ephesians 1 v 6 – 7 [KJV] … To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. (This alone is something to shout about). In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Colossians 1 vs 12 – 14 [NLT] … and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.
The forgiveness of sins (in the plural form), it takes care of all pasts, present and future sins
Therefore, The Forgiveness that has taken place is called Remission.
What is Remission of Sins? Remission is the act of totally blotting away of sins. Upon salvation, our sins were blotted out or washed away.
Acts 2 vs 38 [KJV] …Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Titus 3 vs 5 [KJV] …Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
1 Corinthians 6: 11 [KJV] … And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
Few things to know about Forgiveness of Sins
1. Forgiveness is not something God will do; it’s something God has done”
2. This is an act of pardon from an error, mistake or sin.
3. It is our possession as believers, we do not seek to be forgiven; we have “the forgiveness of sins”.
4. It establishes a relationship between you and God.
5. Remission of sins took place once, but forgiveness of sins will take place more than once (Forgiveness of sins is for past , present and future sins – God has forgiven and He will still forgive – 1 John 2 vs 1 -2)
In Christ Jesus, what God granted the believer is not a changed life or a life that will change subsequently; but an exchanged life, a substituted life. We received the life Christ. What happened on the cross was actually substitution. Christ became out substitute. He took our place. We are the forgiven of the Lord!
When we hung on the cross, we were hanging with him, when he was nailed, we were nailed with him also, when we was beaten, tried, crucified, we were crucified with him and when he was raised by the glory of the father were also raised together with him.
The nature of the old man has been exchanged with the newness of the life of Christ; the nature of sin has been replaced with nature of righteousness.
Our sins were not erased because if erased, you can still see a trace of it, but our sins were washed by the precious blood of Jesus.
We have no stain, no spot or no blemish.
John 1 vs 12 – 13 [KJV] … But as many as received him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
1 Peter 2 vs 9 [KJV]… But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
Colossians 1: 13 [KJV] – Who hath “DELIEVERED” us from the power of darkness, and hath “TRANSLATED” us into the kingdom of His dear Son.
God is not going to do some transferring from time to time; He’s already done it.
The challenge now is, do you see yourself in the kingdom He has transferred you into? How do well do you see yourself?
2 Corinthians 5: 17 [KJV] – If anyman be in Christ, He is a new creation, old things are passed away, “BEHOLD”, all things are become new”.
After Salvation, you have a duty to behold and focus on everything that has become new in you in Christ Jesus, and as we behold the Word of God like a mirror, we are being changed from glory to glory!
