The Authority Of The Believer
Matthew 28: 18 – 20 (KJV)
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
The Father has given Christ Jesus “All Authority”, and this same authority has been vested in the believer. Jesus walked in the fullness of God’s authority so we can walk in the fullness of what He achieved for us through His obedience on the cross.
Then He says in the 19th verse, “Go”. This means we can accomplish much more in our evangelical work, as we win souls and make disciples of all nations. It makes the work of the ministry profitable and impactful.
We have authority to forgive sin, heal the sick, cast out demons and effect God’s will on the earth. The authority you have not experienced is the authority you have not put to work.
The power is on the inside of you, but it can lie dormant and passive until you exercise it in Jesus name. The things of God gets better with practice.
No one has a better righteousness than you have. No one has a better salvation than you have. No one has a better eternal life than you have; no one has a superior right standing with God than you already have in Christ and no one is closer to the heart of the Father than you are.
God has no special children. God has no second class; God has no favourite sons.
Every believer is special to God. Every believer is God’s favourite.
Every believer is God’s first class. In Christ Jesus, every believer has been accepted and adopted. We have obtained equal rights and privileges. We have gained access to the Father.
But with all of these rights and privileges, a believer can still be knocked down by the devil and the system of this world.
It is not enough to know your rights and privileges in Christ Jesus, but also to use them for your own advantage.
The devil is not afraid of you or does flee away from you just because you are Christian; but because you have mastered your rights in Christ and you know how to use your authority in Christ against him and his cohorts. The devil can’t anyone with the knowledge of God’s word.
John 20: 21 [KJV]
Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
I am going because Jesus sent me. I am backed up by God. All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Christ Jesus and this same authority has been vested in the believer in full measure.
Just as the Father sent Jesus, so in the same vein, Jesus had sent me with full authority and power. We have full rights to use our privileges in Christ Jesus for our advantage. That’s the way I see myself. I am a believer with the full authority of Jesus at work in me. Glory!!!
DECLARATION
I use all my rights and privileges in Christ Jesus; I get better and stronger with it. I take advantage of what belongs to me and I function with the authority I have in Christ always. Glory to God!
