In Acts 19, Paul journeyed through the upper regions and arrived in Ephesus. There, he encountered a group of disciples and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They replied, “We have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
Paul introduced the baptism of the Holy Spirit to the saints at Ephesus. He laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
Ephesians 5: 18 – 19 [KJV]
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Paul encourages them to be “filled” again with the Spirit in Ephesians 5: 18. The word translated “filled” in Ephesians 5: 18 means “a continuous and consistent action.”
So Paul was actually telling the believers at Ephesus to “BE BEING FILLED with the Spirit.”
There is one initial infilling of the Holy Ghost which is the baptism in the Holy Ghost, but there will be many refilling throughout your life. Being filled with the Spirit is not simply a one-time event. It is a continuous and lifelong experience. There’s no stopping in the Spirit life. It is an ever increasing life of fire and refreshing.
The Anointing of God’s Spirit in a man’s life places Him above and beyond anywhere. The Holy is a believer is the source of this anointing, and in fact He is the Anointing. Our eternal impact on people is dependent on how usable and pliable we have become in His hands and in our fellowship with Him.
The more spiritual a believer becomes, the better He will be able to bless and impart other believers and unbelievers too. The Spirit of God in a man explodes and turns him to be another man. The release of the Spirit upon a man is all that is needed to distinguish him from others who are trying to fix things through the senses.
With the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and the evidence of speaking in other tongues, we have received the fullness of the anointing without measure. We can do greater work like Jesus did on earth. The consciousness of the indwelling presence helps us to flow in the anointing.
Also prayer is another major factor, as we spend more time in prayer, the oil on our head increases.
The flow of prayer is the flow of the anointing. Prayer does not bring the anointing, the Holy Ghost in us is the source of the anointing; but prayer stirs it up; prayer makes us active, pliable and responsive to the flow of the anointing.
