1 Thessalonians 5:25 (KJV)
Brethren, pray for us.
Funnily enough, and all the time, members of the local always ask their Pastor to pray for them. However, little did they know that, their Pastor is also in dire need of the prayers of the members of his local church the same way the local members of the church desire the prayers of their Pastor.
We are called to pray. We are called to pray for each other. The Pastors should pray for his members. The local church members should pray for their Pastor as well. Examples abound in the Epistles where Paul prayed for members of his local church. The way he prayed for them, he desired their prayers too. He voiced out, “Brethren, pray for us”(1Thessalonians 5:25).
Prayers should be a mutual benefit to both the Pastor and the members of the local church. It is not because your Pastor is weak spiritually the reason he desires your prayer, but because your prayer as a righteous man makes tremendous power available, dynamic in its working.
No one needs prayer less. Both the pastor and members need it. Despite the fact that Paul said to the members of his local church at Corinth, saying “…I speak in tongues more than ye all” (1Cor.14:18), yet he still told the Thessalonian church, “brethren, pray for us”
You may ask what will be the effect of my “little” prayer on my Pastor? Oh mine! Oh mine! The scripture says concerning you that “the earnest prayer(heartfelt, continued) of a righteous man makes tremendous power available, dynamic in its working (James 5: 16 AMP).
Your prayer will cause your Pastor to be strengthened with might by the Spirit in his inner man (Ephesians 3: 16).
Your prayer will cause your Pastor to be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding (Colossians 1:9).
Your prayer will cause the Word of God in Your Pastor’s mouth to run its free course and be glorified in the hearts and hearers of those who listen to him (Colossians 3:1).
Your prayer will cause great and effectual door for the Gospel to all nations to be opened unto your Pastor’s ministry (2 Corinthians 2:2)
Your prayer will cause tremendous power to be available for the demonstration of the Spirit and Power (1 Corinthians 2:4)
Your prayer will not allow Your Pastor to fall into temptations (Matthew 26: 41).
Your prayer will cause your Pastor to be delivered from wicked and unreasonable men (Colossians 3: 2)
These and many other things will your prayers do. Praying that you Pastor will fulfil his calling and ministry is one of the greatest prayers you can pray for your Pastor.
