1 Corinthians 15: 58 [KJV]
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
To be steadfast and unmovable is to be spiritually grounded. A steadfast person knows what he believes and cannot be “tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching. An unmovable person can hear false teaching, engage doubters, and defend truth without it shaking his own faith.
Any believer can be duped by smooth-sounding heresy if they do not have a solid grounding in the “whole counsel of God”. It is God’s desire that we grow daily in our understanding of Him and His Word so that we will remain faithful to the end.
The “work of the Lord” here means that which the Lord requires; all the appropriate duties of Christians. We must always abound in the work of the Lord, we ought to always be engaged in doing the will of God; in promoting his glory, and advancing his kingdom. Every labour we make in the lord will never go unrewarded.
Any cause of the Lord we engage ourselves in will never go in vain both in this life and hereafter. The good works of the saints will follow them; Christ will not forget their work and labour of love which they have shown to his name and people.
Be firm and established in your faith in Christ. Be firm against any assault, temptation and persecution. Fix your eyes and mind in living for the one who calls, for He is faithful. Set your heart after God and His word only. He is the rewarder of all good works. Don’t draw back at any point in your life. Stay focused, be steadfast and unmovable.
