“And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”

There is something powerful about the words “in the Name of Jesus.”
They are not merely words we add to the end of a prayer. They represent authority, identity, access, and representation.
When you say, “In the Name of Jesus,” you are not presenting your own name as the basis for what you are asking. You are coming on the authority of Another—the One whose Name is above every name.
A person may not have great influence personally, but when they come with the authority of someone greater, their words carry a different weight.
This is what we have been given in Christ.
Jesus said:
“Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give you.”

The power is not in the sound of the words Jesus. The power is in the Person that the Name represents.
Jesus is not merely a name we mention; He is Lord.
Philippians 2:9–11 tells us that God has highly exalted Him and given Him “a name which is above every name.” At the Name of Jesus, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
So when the believer uses the Name of Jesus, it should never be casually or fearfully.
We use His Name because we belong to Him.
When Peter stood before the lame man at the Beautiful Gate, he did not say, “I have enough power in myself to make you walk.”
He said:
“In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”

The authority was not Peter’s. The Name was Jesus’.
This is why the believer must understand what it means to live and minister in the Name of Jesus.
We pray in His Name.
We preach in His Name.
We cast out demons in His Name.
We lay hands on the sick in His Name.
We give thanks in His Name.
We represent Him in the earth in His Name.
But there is also a responsibility attached to carrying that Name.
Colossians 3:17 says:
“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.”
The Name is not only for what happens when we stand behind a pulpit or pray for someone.
Our entire lives are to represent the Name we carry.
Before you speak, remember the Name.
Before you act, remember the Name.
Before you make a decision, remember the Name.
You are carrying the Name of Jesus into your workplace, your family, your relationships, your conversations, and your generation.
So don’t live beneath the authority of the Name you carry.
Don’t be intimidated by darkness when you know whose Name you represent.
Don’t approach God as though you have no access.
Don’t pray as though you are trying to convince God to listen.
You have been given access through Christ.
And when you stand in His Name, you are standing upon the authority of the One who has been given all power in heaven and in earth.
