2 Timothy 1:3 (KJV)
I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day.
What Paul means here by the term “pure conscience” is to serve God with “pure spirit”. It means that Paul lived and preached God’s truth without hypocrisy or craftiness.
It is important we maintain and keep a “blameless conscience” toward God and people. It is not just about following outward rules before men’s eyes, but also having an honest heart that truly pleases God in words, thoughts and actions.
Pure conscience is a good ground to walking with God. The word of God is a seed, and when the seed is planted, mixed with pure conscience, the results would be fruitful harvests.
What produces a “pure conscience” is the impact of the Word of God in the soul of a man. Spending quality time in prayer and in the Word causes the heart to align with God’s intention; by this, we can judge matters rightfully and righteously. Glory to God!
