The Holiness Code

1 Peter 1:15 – 16 (RSV)
15 but as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct;
16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”

Holiness is the presence of God in you. The Greek word is HAGIASMOS, it means “a separation unto God”. Holiness means you have been set apart unto God from the rest of the world. You can not do what everyone does, you cannot talk, dress or act like everyone would do. You are set apart for God.

This is no cheap Christianity. This is no easy road or a party of comfort. This is a Christianity that costs something. It’s a walk, a race, a fight, a war, a lifestyle voicing true and genuine faith. There is a God to please, a life to live, temptations to overcome, rewards to receive, crowns of honor for labour.

The perfection of Christianity is faith in Christ and obedience to the authority of the Scriptures. Christianity is highly and extremely Spiritual. There’s nothing natural about our faith. Living a double standard is inconsistent with our faith. Holiness is our lifestyle. Holiness is our virtue. Holiness is our code.

Luke 1:75 (KJV)
In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

Holiness is a consciousness of God’s presence in you. You belong to Him. Your body belongs to Him. You’re not cheap, you’re his priceless work of art, so priceless that He died for you. What is my responsibility now? To live for Him all the days of my life. Don’t make cheap commitments. Make Him the top of your priorities; in words, thoughts and actions. Holiness is our lifestyle. Holiness is our code. Amen!
