Talitha Cumi

Mark 5: 35 – 36 (KJV)
35 While He yet spoke, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain ones who said, “Thy daughter is dead; why troublest thou the master any further?”
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that had been spoken, He said unto the ruler of the synagogue, “Be not afraid; only believe.”

This man “the ruler of the synagogue”, his name is Jarius; he believed and revered the ministry of Jesus and he sought Jesus to come heal his daughter who was at the point of death. Jesus obliged to follow him, but while on the way to Jarius’ house; someone brought a devastating news that the daughter they were coming for had died and the Master would not need to bother coming again.

I imagine looking at the face of Jarius, how disappointed, devastated and demoralized he would have been. When he thought he had found the solution to the immenent chanllege, a much worse news hit him harder.

Before he would realize, He heard the most assuring words of his life “Be Not Afraid, Only Believe”.  Jarius believed Jesus, and they proceeded to the house; the neighbours, wailers and weepers mocked the Master. Jesus drove them out, because fear can not co-exist in the same environment with faith. He allowed the parent of the damsel only to be with him.

The miracle happened in the 41st verse. Jesus spoke out “Talitha cumi,” which is interpreted, “Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.” The damsel rose from dead to life. Faith works, it always works. Faith is the victory!

Today, Jesus is telling you just as He spoke to Jarius “Be not afraid; only believe.” Never let the enemy steal your faith, that’s all what He’s looking for. Your faith is the victory, don’t stop believing, don’t stop fighting, don’t stop speaking, don’t stop singing and before you know it; every dead thing will rise! “Be not afraid; only believe.” This is your Talitha Cumi. Glory to God!
