Cherith: Prosper By Divine Leading

1 Kings 17:1 – 7 (KJV)
1. And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.”
2. Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying,
3. “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan.
4. And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”
5. So he went and did according to the word of the Lord, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan.
6. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook.
7. And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.

There’s a place God separates for his people; a divine separation for provision and preservation.  It is a place to prosper by divine leading.

What Is Brook Cherith? The name “Cherith” is derived from the Hebrew root meaning “to cut” or “to separate,” which befits the brook’s role as a place of divine separation and provision for Elijah.

The word ‘Cherith’ means ‘to make covenant with’. It was here that Elijah discovered that God is a covenant-making and covenant-keeping God who can sustain you through the hardest of times.

In famine, the best place to be is in the covenant. It is a taboo for God’s children to suffer when we have a Father who is owner of all things. But sadly, a lot are suffering in ignorance.

Your financial safety is not in your investment, it is not in your salary, it is in the leading of God. Supernatural supply is not everywhere. It is in the place of your assignment. God can not fund what he does not instruct. God’s Provision always follows God’s instruction.

The only way for Elijah to survive the famine was to stay at Cherith, that was the place the ravens were sent to. It really matters to go where God where God sends you.

Cherith is a place of the anointing. Cherith is a designated place for supernatural supply. It is the safest place to hide during financial hardship. Elijah moved from Cherith to Zarephath when the brook dried, you must know when to transition from one channel of supply to the next.

The skill or investment that prospered you in the last 5 years may not sustain you in the next phase. Don’t allow sentiments keep you where God’s grace has moved on from.
