The Power Of A Vow

1 Samuel 1:11 (KJV)
And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

Hannah was a woman with direction and clarity. She knew what she wanted and how to get it. Hannah activated the law of a vow. A vow unto the Lord is a voluntary promise made to God, carrying a strict spiritual requirement of prompt and complete fulfillment.

She made a vow that if the Lord would give her a child, she would give the child back to the Lord. She promised to give away what was most precious to her. God gave her a son, and she gave him back to the Lord after he was weaned. Hannah gave birth to 3 additional sons and 2 daughters. You can’t outgive God. God always exceeds our expectations. Samuel eventually became one of the greatest prophets in Israel. Hannah wanted a son, God wanted a prophet. Many times it is not about what you want, but what lies in God’s plan.

Perhaps God is waiting for you to make such a vow to him. What are you finding difficult to surrender to God? What are you finding difficult to give to Jesus? You can bring forth your strong reasons today! Go beyond the norm and you will see the the impossible happening in your life. Activate the power of a vow today. Amen!
