Philippians 3: 9 (KJV)
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
Righteousness in the new testament is not right living first, it is right standing. Right living does not produce right standing before God. Righteousness before God is right standing.
Righteousness is your Position in Christ, not your behaviour. Your right standing will cause you to live right. Your position in Christ will influence your condition and behavior in this world.
Righteousness is the ability to stand before God without any sense of guilt, inferiority and condemnation. People are focused more on doing, but God is focused on you being. People are focused on their condition in life, but God wants us to focus on our position in Christ.
Romans 5: 1 – 2 (KJV)
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Through the grace of God, we have been declared not guilty; we stand before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ as though we never sinned because we are the righteousness of God. This is where we stand!
THIS IS WHERE I STAND! In God’s righteousness.
