Romans 12: 6 – 8 (TLB)
6 God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, then prophesy whenever you can—as often as your faith is strong enough to receive a message from God.
7 If your gift is that of serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, do a good job of teaching.
8 If you are a preacher, see to it that your sermons are strong and helpful. If God has given you money, be generous in helping others with it. If God has given you administrative ability and put you in charge of the work of others, take the responsibility seriously. Those who offer comfort to the sorrowing should do so with Christian cheer.
The local church is God’s training ground. When we gather each week, we gather to be built, trained and prepared to do the work of the ministry. The easiest place to fulfil your purpose is to serve in the house of God.
You don’t only be a part of the local church to receive, get blessed and go back home to return again the next time, what task are you undertaking in the house of God? What gift are you serving God with?
1 Peter 4: 10 (KJV)
As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Are you a good steward? Everyone has something to offer. No one is created without a talent or gift. The local church is God’s design for us to become everything God created us to be. There is a gift locked in your inside, that gift find expression as you serve God with it.
With technology now, you can enhance your teaching, writing, editing, speaking, singing or designing skills. The church affords you the opportunity to learn, develop, deploy and serve God with your gift.
Find a department in the church to serve today. Sharpen your gift as you serve God with it. Don’t just come to church every other Sunday and return back home this same way. Ask questions, where can I serve? How do I make this church better with my gift.
Your gift can make your church better. Your gift will surely make you better. There’s a gift locked in you and it can only come out by service. The mystery of greatness is in servant hood!
DECLARATION
I serve God with spirit, soul, strength and body. I will not sit idle again in church. I will serve God with everything I have. Today I make up my mind to be active in serving God in my local church. I am a faithful steward of Christ Jesus my Lord
